Work Arrangement

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Detroit Renaissance Center, Detroit, MI, three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

The Systems Implementation / Lead IT Auditor is responsible for leading IT audit assignments and system implementation consultative projects that support the vision and strategy of General Motors Audit Services (GMAS).

What You'll Do

  • Expertise in evaluating IT risks and controls for system implementations or hands-on experience in the implementation process

  • In-depth knowledge of system migration roadmaps to evaluate the design and effectiveness of user stories, interfaces, data migration, application security, UAT, regression testing, deployment, and project governance

  • Understanding of IT general computer controls, technologies, system development processes, application controls, interface controls

  • Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle

  • Mentor staff on system implementation controls

  • Identify potential risk areas attributed to application implementation projects

  • Ensure proper controls, security, and audit trails are considered throughout project phases from planning, testing, migration and hyper-care

  • Report concerns about the viability of the projects to management

  • Ensure project phases complete as expected in accordance with the PM process

  • Support Senior IT Audit Manager in ensuring the development and execution of a comprehensive program of audit work. This includes participating in the development of the annual risk assessment and audit plan

  • Lead a team of audit staff and contractors in the execution of IT Audits, planning and scoping of audits through the development of an audit canvas, and risk and control matrix

  • Identify IT risks and develop applicable test procedures

  • Conduct audit opening, closing and status meetings

  • Provide hands-on support to staff auditors throughout the audit

  • Review audit workpapers to ensure adequate testing coverage and appropriate documentation

  • Proactively lead status meetings with the stakeholders and Audit Manager

  • Draft audit issues ensuring the root cause is accurately identified and that Management Action Plans to remediate risks address the root cause, audit reports, including ratings and report conclusions

  • Communicate and report audit results with business divisions and VPs, where applicable

  • Complete assigned audits within budgets and timelines

  • Track open issues/management action plans as due dates approach

  • Proactively follow-up on and test issue remediation

  • Serve as primary contact for local auditee management during and after the audit

  • Be a quick study of new and complex technologies and processes, and effectively assess risks and deficiencies

  • Ensure the audit management system is updated accurately and timely

  • Participate in ongoing professional development

  • Develop a good understanding of GM operations worldwide,

  • strong relationships with Audit service line management and staff through projects and integrated audits

  • Builds strong relationships to work with the business and service lines

  • Serve as a brand ambassador for the GMAS team

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in computer science, management information systems, information security or related field

  • 5+ years of relevant controls or Systems Implementation experience

  • Understanding of at least one of the internationally recognized information security and IT service management standards, such as ITIL, ISO27001, COBIT

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications

  • Project management experience

  • Knowledge of SAP

  • Professional certification (i.e., PMP, CAPM, CPMP, CISA, CISM, CISSP, CIA, or similar)

  • High level of integrity, conflict management skills and critical thinking

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Demonstrates positive, proactive attitude, strong leadership ability and managerial courage

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to continuously learn, demonstrate intellectual curiosity, work independently, exercise sound judgement, prioritize tasks and adapt to change quickly

  • Ability to comfortably challenge the status quo and bring an innovative mindset

  • Effective time management skills, including ability to work on more than one audit or project simultaneously

  • Excels in a team environment and demonstrates professional skepticism
