As our Systems Assembler, you will perform a variety of tasks involved in the conversion of raw materials into finished goods, being responsible for the assembly, soldering, rework and inspection of various electronic, optical electronic components, PC boards, optical components, lamps and LED's.
Through a natural curiosity, passion, initiative and independent judgement, the successful candidate will:
- Hand solder printed circuit boards for instruments, detectors and connectors
- Solder wires
- Apply shrink tubing
- Assemble instruments, detectors and sub-assemblies with little supervision
- Paint, epoxy, engrave and test various optical assemblies and detectors
- Perform inline testing, monitor quality, track and document results
- Perform repairs on detectors and optical assemblies in for service
- Follow work orders, report shortages and/or discrepancies, log serial numbers
- Perform basic operations using test equipment and industrial controllers to test and calibrate equipment, documenting test results
- Ensure proper procedures are followed and quality standards are maintained
- Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area
- Regular, dependable and punctual attendance is an essential function of this job
About the candidate
Our ideal candidate will bring the following knowledge and experience:
- Ability to use Venires, Calipers
- Have working knowledge of work orders, process sheets, engineering drawings, specifications and documentations
- Have full understanding and practices of proper material handling
- Experience in use of hand tools (wire strippers, pliers, cutters, termination tools, heat gun)
- Proficient in electrical and mechanical assembly
- Flexibility to learn other production areas within Ocean's Light Technologies organization
- Attention to detail, able to use soldering tools, good dexterity, ability to multi-task, and ability to work alone and in groups
- Ability to learn new skills in a timely manner, interpret visual aids and work overtime when needed
- Strong analytical and process skills
- Work effectively and collaborate with diverse, cross-functional teams
- Customer-centric attitude
- Team player and contribute to the Ocean's Light Technologies team
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One to three years of experience working with electronic instruments and repairs
- Knowledge in Excel and other Microsoft applications (PPT, Outlook, etc.) desired
- Knowledge of KPI's and how they can contribute
- Ability to think and act quickly
- Ability to read schematics
- Ability to complete IPC-J-STD-001 solder certification within one year
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
