Systems and Security Analyst
Department: Technology Solutions
Reports To: CIO
Classification: Exempt
Supervises Direct: 0
Supervises Indirect: 0
Role: To provide technical guidance for the server and communications infrastructure and to coordinate data and user
access security, and assist in administering the Credit Union's hardware and network resources.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
25% - Responsible for the communications infrastructure including but not limited to the
configuration and administration of all Firewalls, Routers, switches and wireless access points.
Responsible for the design, configuration and implementation of Lan and Wan resources.
Responsible for network security including but not limited to VPN’s and VLAN’s.
Implements and monitors QOS policies. Assists in the monitoring of threat assessment tools
and remediation activities when necessary.
25% - Responsible for the setup and administration of the VMware environment and the related
capacity monitoring and upgrade/patch management. Responsible for the build-out of new
servers (physical and virtual) as needed and capacity planning for their use.
25% - Monitors bandwidth use and system capacities and recommends additions and upgrades in
advance of needs to ensure continuity and availability of services through greater resiliency.
Researches and makes recommendations to improve the networked environment.

10% - Researches, recommends, and supports system and network tools necessary to provide a
secure and flexible platform for production applications.

10% - Recommends standards, conventions, policies, and procedures in all areas of expertise.

5% - Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:
1. To carry out assigned responsibilities according to established department standards.
2. To be effective at project management, from inception through implementation and evaluation.
3. To develop and maintain internal standards and controls in compliance with credit union policies and
procedures.
4. To keep management informed of key operation issues affecting the department.
5. To maintain a common data dictionary updated within X working days of any major change.
6. To maintain and extend knowledge in areas of application design to ensure Credit Union does not
encounter technical inefficiencies.
7. To provide informed, professional and accurate service and support to all members and associates
Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.

Education: (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or
(3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills
acquired through an apprenticeship program.

Interpersonal Skills:
Work involves contact with persons beyond immediate associates regarding routine matters for
the purpose of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside
contacts take the form of service to the public (members or vendors), requiring ordinary
courtesy in providing assistance and information.

Other Skills:
1. Experience with VMWare, Windows server and Windows SQL, and the fundamentals of
networks and PC hardware; understanding of industry standards regarding network and access
control security procedures; ability to work independently in troubleshooting problems and
researching capabilities of current or proposed products; strong service orientation.
2. Must be able to work and travel independently and use general office equipment such as telephone and computer.
