Responsibilities

Job Summary

Serves as a primary informatics strategic leader to system level leadership (SVP, CNO, CMO, Clinical and IT leadership) on the topics of governance, successful adoption of technology and optimization of the end user experience with various electronic health record (EHR) systems utilized across CommonSpirit Health.  In collaboration with organizational leaders, ambulatory clinic leaders, and across the entire continuum, provides expert consultation in the delivery of clinical system strategy and optimization through the use of informatic clinical systems by nurses, physicians and other multidisciplinary care providers. 

Provides system strategies to hospital, clinic and organizational leadership and delivers oversight to the System Clinical Informatics team, to advance the utilization of clinical information systems consistent with the goals and objectives of clinical and strategic initiatives.  Achieves maximal project and program implementation success in all informatics systems. 

In collaboration with the System SVP, Clinical Informatics, provides leadership support and direction for the implementation of CommonSpirit Health comprehensive the Clinical Informatics program. Is effective in leading a primary focus of information technology to improve the access and quality of care of healthcare that is delivered to individuals, families and communities.

  • Strategizes, directs and creates a system of Clinical Informatics design, supported by evidence-based enterprise informatic policies and procedures that are of proven success as noted in data analysis, positive financial and quality outcomes.
  • Is visionary and innovative while serving as a champion for complex clinical projects and systems that support efficiency and effectiveness for end users. Demonstrates a broad-based knowledge set that assures great understanding of all disciplines and workflows, that are effective in collaborative team based system models.                                                                     
  • Strategizes the standardized implementation of enterprise level clinical systems in collaboration with System Senior Clinical and Information technology leaders that supports adoption, efficiency and patient safety.
  • Directs and manages people, projects and/or tasks collaboratively and coaches others to achieve optimal performance; delegates effectively; praises/rewards contributions, defines clear roles and responsibilities; sets goals and leads initiatives while adjusting plans as necessary. Empowers and shares authority and responsibility with others while holding associates accountable.
  • Maintains budgetary accountability within agreed upon budget plans.
  • Redefines the design and deployment of Clinical Informatics teams to enhance customer satisfaction and improve patient outcomes through demonstrated documented care interventions.
  • Is future focused and is challenged by change to explore new approaches in Clinical Informatics relying on virtual strategies and digital solutions.
  • Provides strategic oversight and direction to the processes related to optimize and improve system Clinical Informatics standards for all clinical applications. Expert knowledge of Epic and Cerner HOS systems and architecture. Demonstrates an early adopter skill set to achieve the required workflow by the end user. Champions a team of expert system informaticists to lead consultative activities with key business owners throughout the organization to define new requirements for IT solutions that achieve improved performance and quality of care. Visions and aligns the quality of the clinical content within the electronic record to achieve a positive operating model for the HOS across CommonSpirit Health.                                                
  • Contributes to the overall strategic business goals and plans of the organization. Creates and implements a strategy for supporting current and future business needs. Develops long-term strategies to deliver services that keep pace with technology trends.                                                                                                                   
  • Creates strategic direction in the development, management and monitoring of standardized metrics to system wide quality and safety leadership. Provides system clinical and business leadership with system benefits realization as noted in the intended ROI of the proposed business proposition. Monitoring of the business metrics shall be ongoing to ensure a competitive and long term business advantage for CSH.
  • Creates a plan and strategy for system level optimization that puts the customer's perspective at the forefront of the design that supports and achieves CSH business decisions. Strives to lead teams around the concept of “one system” approach to a system outcome goal versus allowing constant variability in choice.
  • Develops, refines, and communicates system strategic plans for EHR Change Management to Senior Operational and Clinical leadership in alignment with CommonSpirit Health Strategic and Clinical Goals.
  • Co-leads governance of the HOS systems with the System VP of Medical Informatics at the system level of Cerner and Epic steering teams. Eliminates barriers and leads the organization toward one CommonSpirit design for effective instances of each HOS system.
  • Identifies areas of performance improvement for Clinical applications that can be integrated into new system development. Accountable to strategize the development and implementation of programs to achieve performance improvement through the implementation of new health IT systems.
  • As an effective change agent skilled in modeling the use of innovation in healthcare, will align appropriate goals and tactics that enhances professional development within the system Clinical Informatics team.   
  • Leads a team of system and regional leaders and managers to achieve annual and projected strategic endeavors that advance the success of CSH. Redefines the design and deployment of Clinical Informatics teams to enhance customer satisfaction and improve patient outcomes through demonstrated documented care interventions.
  • Knowledgeable of successful organizational structure design and whole system shared governance structures. Leads through documented outcome data sets and demonstrates the ability to course correct quickly to assure targeted outcomes are met.
  • Remains visible and present in the various divisions of accountability, aligning with divisional and local strategies that enhance the success and welfare of our organization.
  • Aligns with national, divisional and local colleagues for expert advice on application legal, and regulatory issues that assure CSH exceeds in intended goals and objectives.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • MSN or MHA required.
  • Doctorate in Nursing or other Clinical fields is highly preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of Epic and Cerner HOS systems and architecture. Demonstrates an early adopter skill set to achieve the required workflow by the end user.
  • Minimum of 10 years related healthcare experience and minimum of 7 years of leadership experience in a system role of complex highly matrixed organizations.
  • Strong track record of positive outcomes in system Leadership and project management for large national teams.
  • Financially astute. Is independently capable of developing and maintaining ROI projections for projects.
  • Demonstrated national presence in Healthcare Informatics forums. Willing and capable of publishing best practices as noted in CSH pilots or future innovations.
  • Demonstrated success in providing effective solutions that resolve complex challenges for large healthcare clinical informatic system issues
  • Extensive experience in Clinical Informatics & multiple EMR applications. In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulatory standards, CMS, and Joint commission requirements. Excellent written and oral communication skills, skilled facilitator, in virtual meetings and teams.

Required Licensure and Certifications

  • RN Compact license. Certification in 1 or more HOS systems.
  • AACN and or other IT certification in Informatics, mandatory.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

  • As an effective change agent skilled in modeling the use of innovation in healthcare, will align appropriate goals and tactics that enhances professional development within the system Clinical Informatics team.
  • Current knowledge of new and advancing technology that may result in advancing clinical care at CSH.
  • Experience in whole system shared decision making. Demonstrated successes in leading teams to achieve national and regional goals.

Position is eligible for incentive pay based on company performance.


Pay Range
$76.92 - $107.69 /hour
