Objectives:
Manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems.
Overview:
The Sr. Systems Technician position is responsible for ensuring that the peripheral systems are in proper working condition. IT system administrators have to quickly arrange for a replacement or resolve the issues in case of any hardware failure. They have to create file systems and manage the network communication. Part of the system administrator requirements include being responsible for taking care of the backup and recovery policy.
Sr. System Technician requirements include updating the new version of OS and application software, along with executing the policies for the use of the computer system and network. Additionally, system administrator requirements include setting up security policies for users and taking care of identity management. This position is an IAT II coded IA position with a DCWF Work Role as a System Administrator IAW DoD 8570.01-m Change 4 2012. A security clearance of SECRET (S) is required. Reports to operational contract Site Manager or designee.
Responsibilities:
- Manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems.
- Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems.
- Sets up administrator and service accounts.
- Maintains system documentation.
- Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
- Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation, and provides backup recovery.
- Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
- May program in an administrative language.
- Develops and implements testing strategies and document results.
- Provides advice and training to end-users. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced staff members.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
- Participates in special projects as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Active SECRET
- Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network administration and support.
- Comprehensive knowledge of related hardware and software.
- Professional Certification(s) are required Baseline
Certifications:
- CompTIA Security+ CE IATII
- Computing Environment Certification: Microsoft MCSA: Windows 10
- Candidate must have or be able to obtain a certificate or certification meeting evolving computing environment requirements
Education:
B.A./B.S. in a Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience. 5-8 years of relevant experience
