Form of workGeologics is seeking a talented System Safety Engineer / Subject Matter Expert to work with one of our national aerospace and defense partners based in Canonsburg, PA.
A DoD Secret Clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required.
Position:System Safety Engineer / Subject Matter Expert
Type: W-2, Contract
Location: Hybrid/Flex in Canonsburg, PA
Pay: $55.00 - $70.00/hr.
Job Responsibilities:
The role encompasses total System Safety analysis, including safety significant hardware and software. The analysis focus is on total system safe operation. The current program needs focus on software and firmware safety design composition, implementation, documentation, and linking to safety requirements.
Role would include FPGA firmware, software, and hardware analysis. You need to be able to relate safety requirements to system design and explain how the design meets the safety requirements. You are expected to accomplish the following Key Performance Objectives.
- Generate, and update of the following documents, or support of the Government Safety Team's efforts to generate the following:
- Systems Requirements Hazard Analysis (SRHA)
- Subsystem Hazard Analysis
- Code Level Hazard Analysis
- Firmware Safety Assessment Report
- Safety Verification Report
- Safety Review Board Presentation Material
- Audit the design and implementation according to the Joint Software Systems Safety Engineering Handbook (JSSSEH).
- Generate the source analysis to be reviewed by the government safety team and evaluate what is produced by the government safety team.
- Generate System Safety Progress Report periodically.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- DoD Secret Clearance is required within a reasonable period of time
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years of related experience OR 6 years with a master's degree, to include experience with any of the following:
- MIL-STD-882E: Military Standard, Standard Practice, System Safety Program Requirements, Final
- NAVAIR 16-1-529: Hazards to Ordnance (HERO)
- JSSSEH: Joint Software Systems Safety Engineering Handbook
- AOP-52: Guidance on Software Safety Design and Assessment of Munition-Related Computing Systems
- MIL-HDBK-2155 NOTE 1: Military Handbook: Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action Taken
- T9070-AL-DPC-020/077-2: NAVSEA Hazardous Material Avoidance Process
