Requirements for consideration:

Minimum Education:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science or related field required. 

Years of Experience:

• 5 years of experience in laboratory processes specifically in transfusion medicine.

Certification Upon Start:

• ASCP or AMT Board certification consistent with scope of responsibility to include   MT, MLS, MLT, BB, and/or SBB.

Job Responsibilities included but not limited to:

• Collaborate with medical, nursing and lab personnel to develops, implements, and educates on strategies for blood conservation.
• Promotes transfusion safety, reviews and investigates adverse events and other occurrences associated with blood products, provides education to the clinical team while recommending changes, when appropriate. 
• Acts as a resource for blood product administration and any blood related technical problem. 
• Evaluates transfusion orders to ensure adherence to guidelines. 
• Develops and monitors Patient Blood management program, to ensure appropriate use of blood products. 
• Reports system performance relative to Inova targets.
