Overview
The Systems Engineer I provides technical support, systems engineering, and integration within the NAH Systems Engineering team. Provides third level support for incident management across NAH’s server and storage systems. Provides cross team support as an escalation point for issues, and resource for project work. Analyzes and contributes heavily to hardware and software system design and documentation. Performs hardware and software deployment to support NAH Systems Engineering. Performs administration activities not limited to the following areas; Windows, Active Directory, O365, Citrix, VMware, Linux, cloud platforms. Leads work efforts within the team as well as cross team within IT. Works closely with other Systems Engineers to develop, update, and maintain Enterprise hardware and software design documentation.
Responsibilities
Operations
*Assists other IT resources by providing input to the resolution of escalated technical issues as required.
* Executes assigned priorities based upon severity, work-flow, and time constraints.
* Identifies software/firmware/hardware solutions to system wide issues.
* Identifies, documents and operationalizes patching activities and remediation for security issues as needed.
*Designs or modifies server specifications to meet complex application platform needs.
*Conducts or leads implementation of hardware and software solutions to support NAH.
* Identifies, plans, tests and implements large scale group policy changes needed to support NAH initiatives.
* Coordinates tasks and activities with other IT teams, NAH departments and vendors as appropriate or directed.
* Provides tier 3 support for issues, and serves as escalation point for issues escalated from other teams in IT.
* Maintains integrity and performance of NAH systems with feedback / guidance from other Systems Engineers.
* Assists in implementing security and control procedures including, but not limited to backup and recovery.
* Drives resolution of complex system issues.
* Works closely with other Systems Engineers to identify, vet and recommend hardware and software solutions to support NAH’s virtual systems infrastructure.
* Configures, optimizes, tests and operationalizes operating system images to support NAH’s virtual systems infrastructure.
* Develops, maintains and enhances personal skillset and continuously knowledge shares within team and IT to empower and grow self and others.
* Documents design decisions and system configuration.
Compliance/Safety
* Awareness of IT security policies and guidelines, responsible for updates to security configuration changes on supported systems to promote compliance to include appropriate audit trail.
* Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.
* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job specific training in the specified time frame.
* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employees area of responsibility.
* Completes training and maintains certification in relevant network infrastructure classes.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelors Degree in computer Science or related field - Required
Certification & Licensures
Microsoft MCSA - Preferred
Experience
In addition to supporting NAH's server and storage systems, you will be responsible for ensuring timely testing, validation, deployment, and remediation of patches to workstations and servers in the NAH environment. This work will include coordinating remediating security vulnerabilities identified by IT Security, testing with Applications teams, and entering necessary change controls to complete work. This work will focus primarily on Windows client and server operating systems, as well as accompanying software on these machines. This work will include creating, testing, and deploying operating system images, and software deployment packages in cooperation with other teams.
3 years experience working with SCCM, MEM, Intune, Ivanti or similar patch deployment tools – Preferred
Experience with scripting and automation such as PowerShell, Batch, etc – Preferred
Minimum 5 years general IT experience – Required
Minimum 3 years systems engineering experience - Required
Minimum 2 years of desktop support experience - Preferred
