Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions has an opening for a Lead Researcher in the Organic Synthesis Research group based in the Trevose, PA research facility.
Summary:
The Lead Researcher will demonstrate synthetic/process chemistry proficiency to develop new molecules (low and high molecular weight) from lab scale to pilot scale using standard reaction routes. Additionally, the candidate will work with our manufacturing, blending and tolling sites to trouble-shoot and improve existing products/reactions.
The candidate will be expected to
demonstrate the necessary chemical and engineering proficiency and project leadership skills to execute on business priorities, programs, and processes in a diverse application area related to the handling of solids, flows, and formulations.
develop creative solutions to complex problems using advanced theories and knowledge where no precedent exists
prepare technical reports with independent interpretation of data, coordinate the efforts of external resources related to specific projects or requests, direct the work of one or more professional and technicians, and establish a high level of scientific knowledge
Serve as technical resource/mentor to junior technology peers, applications, and field sales associates.
Responsibilities
Design and synthesize unique molecules and polymers for use in Veolia WTS product lines to enhance treatment performance for customers
Develop structure-function relationships with application groups
Characterize the molecules produced – either by running the analyses themselves or partnering with the Analytical group
As part of the development team, contribute to idea generation, conduct experiments and review results
Execute technical development effort including planning and execution of experimental approach, analyzing data, monitoring and communicating project status and aligning resources to achieve goals and project milestones
Define and validate raw material specifications and sources on the impact of the final product
Collaborate with external and internal customers including Supply Chain, Product Compliance and Product Quality
Qualifications
