Job Title: STEAM Teacher
Classification: Certified
Primary Function: Responsible for increasing student achievement and creating a classroom environment that enables students to develop basic technology skills. The teacher will work to integrate the core curriculum into all technology lessons. Main functions include but are not limited to:
- Assisting students with developing thinking skills and content knowledge while engaging in hands-on activities
- Planning and implementation of standards-based instruction in a STEAM classroom; integrate technology and technology principles into the core curriculum
- Research and implement best practices in educational technology; plan, develop and implement lessons for basic computer, keyboard, and internet skills as well as lessons that incorporate learning goals that allow students to prepare for online/technology-driven assessments
- Assist students in making connections to real-life technology use and principles
- Model educational technology strategies for teachers that demonstrate research-based instruction with students
- Maintain and monitor student usage of STEAM/Computer Lab equipment; monitor internet usage as outlined by district policy
- Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the STEAM/Computer Lab and related devices
- Establishing a positive classroom environment and culture for learning
- Analyzing data and action planning
- Consistently communicating with stakeholders
Accountability: Reports to Building Level Administrators & District Level Administrators
Education/Certification:
- Professional Educator's Licence (PEL)
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
- Master's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred
- Endorsements in Special Education, ESL, Bilingual Education, Math, or Science preferred

- Exceptional skills in educational technology and an in-depth knowledge of how to incorporate technological tools and resources to facilitate student learning and achievement
- Demonstrated ability to integrate technology in authentic and meaningful ways
- Thorough understanding of the Illinois Learning Standards
- Thorough knowledge of elementary school Math, Science, and Technology content
- Thorough knowledge of instructional strategies that lead to increased student achievement
