Job description

Conservatory Lab Charter School empowers a diverse range of children in preschool through eighth grade as scholars, artists, and leaders through a unique and rigorous academic and music education. We enrich the larger community through performance, service, and collaboration. As a laboratory school, we develop and disseminate innovative educational approaches that will positively impact children in other schools and programs.
The school-based ELL Coordinator manages all testing and record keeping for the school, as well as providing ESL services for students. The EL Coordinator oversees all school-based ESL service delivery at CLCS. The ideal candidate will have experience as an EL coordinator and will maintain all record keeping systems for all EL students. The EL Coordinator will schedule and facilitate all testing for ELs. The ideal candidate will have teaching experience working with students who speak multiple languages and have experience supporting young learners. The ideal candidate will have experience observing lessons and providing feedback to teachers to support access for all students. The EL Coordinator will facilitate the EL parent group (ELPAC) to support families in accessing school resources and supporting their children.
The ESL teacher provides specialized services as designated by a student's ELD level. Conservatory Lab Charter School seeks individuals who are passionate about supporting students to meet their full potential. We seek motivated, insightful individuals who are excited to collaborate with content teachers to plan and implement learning experiences that advance the intellectual, social, emotional and physical development of students. The ideal candidate will have experience analyzing student needs, designing hands-on experiences to support student learning, supporting implementation of students' accommodations and modifying grade level work. The ESL teacher will help discern how to provide access to grade level standards with supportive learning experiences while building foundational skills.
The ESL teacher should have experience supporting EL students at all levels. The ESL teacher will provide service to students, as well as partner with academic and music teachers to support student learning. In addition, the ESL teacher should have experience with research based strategies to build literacy skills.
Responsibilities:

  • Partner with content teacher to support optimal learning environment for students
  • Co-plan lessons with academic teachers to support student learning
  • Design accommodations to support students' access to grade level material during content instruction
  • Provide instruction to support English language development
  • Consult with academic and music teachers to design and support implementation of students' accommodations
  • Lead small group and individual instruction using identified scientific, research based strategies focused specifically on individual student needs
  • Utilize feedback to reflect on skills and improve performance to improve supports for students
  • Perform related duties as requested to support a safe and supportive learning environment
  • Maintain records of students' assessments, progress monitoring and to insure fidelity of implementation
  • Collaborate with the Director of Student Services to support communication and documentation to meet all DESE regulations
  • Assist with all testing accommodations
  • Lead ACCESS testing in coordination with administration and ESL teachers
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for EL students
  • Maintain ELD folders
  • Prepare EL reports
  • Lead regular EL meetings to review student progress and documentation
  • Communicate regularly with the other ESL teachers and provide support as needed
  • Administer WIDA screener and work closely with Director of Enrollment to identify incoming EL students
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Principal or Director of Student Services
  • Facilitate ELPAC

Required Qualifications:
  • ESL certification
  • 3 years working as an ESL teacher
  • Experience working in an urban environment
  • Ability to work closely and collaborate on a professional team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong oral communication skills
  • Flexible and able to work in a fast paced environment

Preferred:
  • Reading certification (preferred)
  • Bilingual - Spanish, Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole
