Swine Production Site Manager

Are you a hardworking, reliable individual seeking DAY TIME employment?  F & H has an opportunity for you!  We are seeking a FT Animal Care Technician to add to our team at one of our Swine Production Sites located in east central North Dakota.

Shift: Full-time day shift, Monday-Friday with short shifts on rotating weekends (typically every 3rd) and rotating holidays.

What you'll do: The unit manager ensures the proper care and nutrition of the site's animals.  The unit manager is responsible for overseeing the facility and its production, personnel, sales and purchasing. 

Our animals are our top priority. Respect and care for all animals is required at all times.

Daily  activities include: 

• Follows and enforces all bio-security and safety procedures and regulations per Protein Sources Management. 
• Monitors health conditions of the livestock and administers injections or other medications as needed while following the site vaccination program. 
• Follows wean schedules as provided by management and communicates any potential changes.  
• Communicates with Manager of Nursery Operations and unit nursery managers about piglet  health and wean schedules. 
  
• Orders and tracks all feed inventory to make sure feed is delivered. 
• Participates independently and/or with a supervisor to achieve success in each department  and reach farm goals. 
• Keeps facilities washed, cleaned, and disinfected as needed by sweeping floors and cleaning  and disinfecting rooms, hallways, office, or any area within the building.  
• Coordinates light maintenance and repairs using the proper specified tools. 
• Constructs and maintains a routine maintenance schedule.  
• Works with Field Manager and/or Human Resources on all unit personnel issues. 
• Maintains professional interaction with owners, veterinarians, truck drivers, sales people,  and guests. 
• Performs related activities as directed.

Required skills/experience:

A previous background and experience in animal husbandry is required. The unit manager must possess  strong problem-solving skills and have the ability to take initiative and be proactive. The unit manager  must also have a general knowledge of technology and its application in improving business  performance. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. The unit manager must be  committed to the organization’s production practices and must be able to independently manage,  organize, and prioritize work with minimal supervision.
