Swimming Pool Attendant/Casual Worker, Range 100

Casual Worker I positions are assigned duties that ensure the safety of patrons using the community pool. Positions allocated to this level include Swimming Pool Attendant and other positions requiring a comparable level of skill and responsibility.
Examples of Duties
- Answers phone and provides information regarding pool hours, fees, and rules; greets and admits customers; collects money and keeps records of money received.
- Scans pool and surrounding deck and locker room area to ensure the safety of patrons; rescues or assists injured patrons; enforces pool rules; maintains and sets up pool gear.
- Practices rescue and lifesaving techniques; performs weekly swimming and diving drills to ensure skills.
- Cleans locker room area including showers, sinks, toilets, counter tables, mirrors, and windows; vacuums, shower foams and uses sanitizer in dressing rooms, lobby, deck area, and hoses down boiler rooms; sweeps or shovels snow on sidewalks or parking lot, and is responsible for applying de-icing materials when needed.
- Assists with pool maintenance; cleans tiles, skimmers, and baskets; vacuums and brushes pool; tests chemical level in pool, reads equipment gauges and completes hourly documentation log.
- Helps with maintenance of the swim facility's building and grounds.
Qualifications
- Must have participated and met all objectives in the physical, critical skills, and final rescue scenarios in an American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course, which includes CPR for the Professional and First Aid.
- Work experience interacting with the public is necessary. Must be at least fifteen (15) years old. Submission to drug and/or alcohol testing prior to reporting for work or during scheduled shift.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of method and practice of pool maintenance, chemicals used in pool maintenance, types of cleaning chemicals and their uses; safety procedures applicable to the use of pool chemicals and cleaning supplies; water rescue techniques; lifesaving techniques (CPR and first aid); daily and hourly record keeping practices.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with public and staff; maintain daily and hourly records of work performed; use janitorial tools, outdoor equipment and supplies in a safe and efficient manner; carry out written and verbal instructions; learn and follow operating procedures; work cooperatively with others.
