Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detailed oriented Senior Vice President of Finance and Compliance to serve as the financial partner to the senior leadership team. As the Senior Vice President of Finance, you will lead the development of a high-performing finance, accounting, legal and compliance function, focusing on ensuring profitability and compliance in the operations of the business.
You will be accountable the end to end daily and strategic execution of the finance, accounting, legal and compliance functions, as well as ensuring that revenue and costs inputs are optimally structured in the business to provide the maximum return on investment. Success in this role requires an ability to dive into the details, provide short- and long-term financial and compliance views and create strong financial and compliance processes across the business. You will partner with the Chief Operating Officer to drive a mindset of financial accountability and discipline across the organization.
Responsibilities:
1. Financial Leadership:
  • Create comprehensive, timely and accurate finance and accounting reporting practices that give insight into month and year end summaries, commentaries on variances and analysis into trends.
  • Build and track budgets and provide forecasting analysis that give insights to the Chief Operating Officer, management team and investors.
  • Demonstrate strong familiarity on BPaaS, BPO and/or software revenue recognition, cost structure analysis, key financial metrics, and best practices that drive the business towards profitability.
  • Communicate cash risks, opportunities, and forecast variances to facilitate timely decision-making. Ensure proactive cash flow management processes at all times.
  • Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, offering financial input on business decisions from a profitability perspective and offer suggestions on how to improve day to day operations impacting the company’s financial performance and risk factors.
2. Financial Processes and Controls:
  • Establish appropriate processes, controls and systems within the Finance team and provide similar suggestions across the business on matters impacting the company’s profitability.
  • Report on and interpret financial KPIs that support data-driven decision-making that puts profitability at the forefront of all decisions.
  • Coach departmental heads and other leaders on department-level budgets, forecasting, planning and other key financial controls.
  • Manage the company’s procurement process of vendor selection and vendor cost optimization and drive cost improvement initiatives with vendors across the business.
3. Legal and Compliance Leadership:
  • Working understanding of Medicare compliance rules for BPaaS and BPO services impacting payers and how those rules impact TPA compliance obligations.
  • Able to demonstrate a leadership mind-set of attention to detail, ownership and drive in areas of compliance, TPA licensing and contract reviews; even though this may not be a core skill set.
  • Create consistent reporting on the compliance landscape and risk factors and collaborate with Operations and Product peers to proactively manage risk.
  • Ensure client and vendor contracts are structured optimally to increase profitability and reduce risk.
4. Internal Controls and Reporting:
  • Establish tight internal controls and reporting mechanisms within the Finance, Compliance and Procurement teams and for other departments that highlight company wide as well as departmental level profitability and compliance gaps and risks.
  • Establish critical reporting on at minimum margin analysis, deal profitability analysis and other cost structure analysis for deal inputs.
  • Oversee the establishment of critical reporting on compliance risk items with actionable plans for resolution in conjunction with other departments.
5. Sales Pricing and Modeling:
  • In partnership with other relevant departments, build a repeatable financial model to cost deals for profitability that include accurate cost elements and other inputs.
  • Collaborate with other departments to price deals timely and accurately to meet sales deadlines.
6. Planning, Communication & Management
  • Lead short and long term financial planning for the organization that meets the company’s strategic goals.
  • Partner with the Chief Operating Officer to drive cost improvement and revenue assurance initiatives across the organization and propose continuous cost control and revenue improvement processes to other departments.
  • Create appropriate financial communication packages for Board meetings, monthly updates and other reporting needs to investors.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree is required, advanced degree preferred. CPA a plus.
  • Proven experience as a senior finance leader in a fast-growing healthcare BPaaS/BPO or software company desired, but not required.
  • Senior level finance experience in a highly-transactional consulting or other tech based business considered.
  • Proven track record of building financial data packages with high level summaries and detailed analyses, budgeting, forecasting, trending and modeling.
  • Proven experience working at the detailed and ground level, rebuilding teams and processes and strong people leadership skills required.
  • Expertise in healthcare BPaaS, BPO software revenue recognition, costing elements, metrics, and best practices, a plus.
  • Ability to develop and implement systems, tools, and processes for business clarity.
  • Experience working with BPaaS/BPO compliance rules.
  • Experience managing client and vendor contracting. Experience with procurement processes a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in managing teams through tough financial and operational situations, a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to take on new responsibilities, and building and executing on new areas of accountability, a plus.
  • Resilient, high-energy, and hands-on executor with a focus on driving results.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage, collaborate with and influence people at all levels.
  • Ability to navigate, influence, and build relationships internally and externally, including leadership teams, board, and customers.
