JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Sustainability Sorter
DEPARTMENT: Processing Center
REPORTS TO: Site Lead at Trader’s Village
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY:
The Sustainability Sorter is an essential employee responsible for properly placing and sorting recycling material on the processing line. The Sorter performs additional duties that directly contribute to the success of the company’s primary function.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Inspect materials utilizing Near-Infrared (NIR) software/scanner for the sorting of items into appropriate container according to type, size, composition, condition or coloring.
- Position and label containers in sorting line for product sort.
- Familiarity and ability to use NIR software and other technology.
- Feed material into the sorting line.
- Pull contaminants out of sorting line using proper tools.
- Stack, dump and organize boxes of material.
- Clean up sorting line. Maintain surrounding work area.
- Adhere to standard operating procedures and follow mandated guidelines for operating and maintaining equipment.
- Report any on the job incidents or equipment malfunctions.
- Must meet and maintain production quotas daily.
- Complete any additionally assigned tasks.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- He or she must be able to understand and carry out instructions.
- Able to read, write, basic math and complete simple paperwork.
- Able to make independent decisions by him or herself.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- High School diploma required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- MUST be able to make good judgment calls.
- MUST be able to concentrate and stay on task.
- Willingness to work overtime when necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must have good eyesight.
- Able to stand, push, bend, stoop and pull for 6 hours or more.
- Able to bend, push, and lift 30 pounds or more.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Will require working in an outdoor environment when necessary.
- Normal lighting and production area conditions.
- Some dust, dirt, and lint from incoming donated goods.
- Workspace limited by equipment and materials necessary for production.
- NOT to restrict movement. Worker controls space and cleanliness.
- NO fire and safety hazards are apparent.
- Aisle ways to be maintained at all times.
