St Julien is looking for a passionate Sustainability Coordinator to drive the Hotel's Green Initiatives through our waste diversion programs and act as a liaison with local organizational partners to further our sustainability efforts.
Essential Job Functions:
- Work with each department to train staff and monitor compliance of the Hotel’s waste diversion procedures and goals.
- Manage the flow of recyclable and compostable waste and seek ways to improve our processes.
- Champion all of our Green goals and initiatives including maintaining our status as a Zero Waste Hotel.
- Serve as a critical point of contact in the loading dock, ensuring that all waste items have been placed in appropriate, corresponding containers to maximize our recycling and composting efforts.
- Educate Hotel associates through constructive feedback and regular training on how to properly dispose of all waste.
- Maintain relationships with, and organize donations of items to, local non-profit organizations.
- Perform research into recyclable and compostable products and conduct waste audits as needed/requested.
- Plan, host, and attend all St Julien Green Team meetings; facilitate and organize sustainability-focused Company events.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Qualifications:
- Passion and enthusiasm for sustainability, and a strong desire to inspire others to engage in sustainable practices is a MUST!
- Ideal candidate should be a self-starter with strong multitasking and time management skills.
- Previous waste diversion (or equivalent experience) and/or Environmental Science (or related) degree are strongly preferred, but not required.
- Must be able to stand for several hours at a time and lift up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.
