Job Description
Position Summary:
The Survey Party Chief will assist in planning and executing proposed field survey projects, manage the individual field survey team members, prepare, process, and coordinate the required field design survey work and construction staking survey work and other surveys and daily survey logs. Survey Party Chief assists in providing direction to assigned field survey staff; plans, assigns, directs, and reviews the daily activities of a field survey crew in conducting preliminary, location, construction, property, precise, topographic, or other engineering surveys.

Responsibilities:
- Assists in directing Survey Crews to perform land surveying services including surveys for construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects
- Responsible for field data collection, field calculations, using proper survey procedures and reporting survey findings.
- Process survey data, ensuring compliance to applicable regulations and professional standards.
- Ensure schedules and productivity objectives set by Survey Manager are achieved
- Performs accurate measurements and calculations in recording the field data using instruments and measuring devices
- Drives company or personal vehicle to reach jobsites
- Ensures surveys are in compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations
- Identifies hazardous situations and applies safety procedures and company standards
- Manage and perform field survey work
- Effective communicating with Survey Manager as to progress updates, scope changes, HSSE reporting and other project impacts
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Advanced knowledge of field survey methods and calculations.
Advanced knowledge of local survey laws, rules, and regulations.
Strong understanding of field instrumentation, GPS, and robotic total stations.
Strong cooperative skills in working efficiently with a team.
Excellent computer and technical skills of CAD standards and relevant software programs including AutoCAD Cilvil3D, MicroStation, Trimble Business Center, and related software
Experience/Qualifications:
- 5+ years of survey experience including Party Chief experience
- Associates degree or technical school diploma/certificate in Engineering or related field and a minimum of 3 years related experience or, in lieu of a degree, must have at least 5 years of related experience in civil construction surveying
- Valid Driver’s License required

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
- Noise levels in the work environment is usually loud.
- Ability to wear and work in personnel protective equipment including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, ankle-supporting safety-toed work boots and a safety vest.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- Extensive moving or positioning heavy weighted materials (up to 50 lbs.).
- Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
