Boswell Engineering is seeking a qualified Survey Party Chief for our South Hackensack, NJ office to work within our Land Surveyors group. The candidate can expect to be a leading role in the field for work on a wide variety of projects including transportation, environmental, water/wastewater, commercial, residential, and energy, from rural to urban areas. This position will report to the Land Survey Department Head.
Responsibilities:
- Perform boundary & topographic surveys; engineering design surveys; ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, construction layout, and flood elevation certificate surveys.
- Prepare and maintain accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performance
- Maintain land surveying vehicle and field equipment
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- The candidate should have 5+ years of industry experience, prior crew chief experience is preferred
- General awareness of land survey principles, practices, process, methods and techniques
- Should be proficient with modern surveying equipment including GPS, Total Stations, Robotic Total Stations, Data Collectors and software. Leica equipment knowledge is a plus
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to read and interpret survey/construction drawings and written project specific specifications/scopes of work.
- Attention to detail
- Must possess a willingness to learn
- Must be willing to work in all environments and terrain
- Ability to occasionally work beyond the typical workweek
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements
- Valid driver’s license
