We are seeking an individual who is interested in a Survey Internship based out of our Waukesha office.
Responsibilities and Duties
Duties for this position include but are not limited to:
- Assist in surveying and staking of municipal, transportation, private development, and/or environmental construction projects.
- Assist with project and survey preparation utilizing survey equipment, AutoCAD Civil 3D, construction plan review, etc.
- Perform construction review for different municipal or private development clients.
- Maintain data collection from current and past projects.
- Provide analysis of field collected data, legal descriptions, title easements, design plans, utility plans, and construction layout notes.
- Review assigned project files for necessary materials and information to carry out project scope and drafting tasks.
- Interact with the public answering questions and complaints.
- Develop an understanding of surveying concepts, how surveying is integrated into plans and projects, subdivision plats, certified survey maps (CSM's), legal descriptions, and other survey exhibits.
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following education, experience, and abilities:
- Preferred Survey Internship candidate:
- Pursuing a degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or other related degree.
- General knowledge/experience in land surveying or civil construction.
- General experience in Computer Aided Drafting and Design.
- Initiative, a positive attitude and attention to detail.
- Skill in interacting using diplomacy and tact with a variety of different people including residents, municipal officials, supervisors, project managers, contractors, and laborers.
- The general ability to use tools, measure quantities, estimate distances, and implement surveying techniques and standards.
- A willingness to be flexible between different project sites and locations.
- A willingness to continue to grow knowledge in industry.
- A willingness to work outdoors in inclement weather.
- A valid driver's license, personal vehicle, and personal vehicle insurance.
