Job Summary:
Candidate will work in the Survey Department to create machine control models and process survey and design information to support field operations. Will also provide support of all GPS grade control activities under the direction of supervision. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated team player with excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
Position Responsibilities:
- Promote and exemplify the MBC Core Values.
- Prepare machine control models from a variety of CAD files and plan sheets.
- Review data for completeness, accuracy and conformity.
- Process as-built survey data and calculate earthwork quantities.
- Must be flexible to work between model creation and working with Estimating Department on site takeoffs as needed.
- Work with project staff to resolve design conflicts and make changes to machine control models.
- Organize and maintain machine control models and associated records.
- Set up base stations, upload surface models and line work to grading equipment and data collectors.
- Calibrate sites from existing control points using GPS survey and/or grade control equipment.
- Understand the required hardware to support GPS survey and/or grade control operations.
- Use computer software such as AutoCAD Civil3Dor Trimble Business Center to transfer design data and/or transfer collected data back into the software.
- Install, maintain, calibrate, configure and provide training on GPS survey and/or grade control equipment.
- Troubleshoot and support GPS survey and/or grade control equipment.
- Accurately collect utility and other infrastructure data using GPS survey and/or mapping grade equipment.
- Accurately map utility and other infrastructure data with utilizing GPS, CAD and other sources of data.
- Data collection and processing utilizing UAV technologies.
- All other duties/special projects as assigned to promote teamwork and a collaborative work environment.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology or related field preferred.
- Experience using AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center, GPS and conventional survey equipment is also desired.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel.
- Understanding of GPS machine control and model creation using Trimble.
- Possess or be able to obtain the FAA Remote Pilot Certificate.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to read and understand plans and specs.
- Work well in a team environment.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
- Ability to travel locally on short notice is required.
- Other qualifications include a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects.
