Survey Crew Chief

As a Project Surveyor for VS Engineering, you will be located on the Morris-Forman WWTP project office in Louisville, KY. A portion of your time will be spent in the project office as well as in the field. You will be required to perform quality control and progress checks. This role will coordinate directly with the contractor and subcontractors onsite. You must have the ability to effectively discuss project timelines and concerns with clients and review agencies.

A Typical Day May Include

• Leading Survey Crew(s) performing topographic, construction staking, boundary surveys and control surveys using both conventional and GPS techniques
• Managing survey project and meeting project deadlines and budgets.
• Performing office calculations and support field Survey Crews for construction staking
• Providing analysis and final map checking and record drawings research
• Conducts QA/QC of engineering parcels and route survey plats
• Establishes and maintains quality control procedures on survey operations
• Verifies the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites

What We're Looking For

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent, Associates' degree(preferred) or equivalent in land survey, design technology, engineering or a related field. A combination of education and experience is acceptable.
• 5+ years surveying experience
• Background in survey, right of way, site development, transportation, construction staking, construction experience, and/or other municipal operations
• Technical knowledge/ computer skills:

• • • AutoCAD Civil 3D
    • MicroStation / Bentley OpenRoads or InRoads
    • GPS
    • LiDAR
    • Microsoft Office products: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
    • Thorough understanding of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions
    • Capable of solving complex problems using professional judgement, creativity, collaboration, and innovation
    • Excellent time management skill
