About the Position: Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The depot's enormous maintenance mission includes the repair, rebuild, overhaul and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Surveillance Inspector (Ammunition) (Direct Hiring Authority) ~ without more than normal supervision.
I have the ability to perform common Surveillance Inspector (Ammunition) duties of inspecting proper loading of ammunition into vehicles to ensure proper storage. I can use a variety of Ammunition Peculiar Equipment to enable safe ammunition operations such as surveillance, maintenance, and preservation of ammunition. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
You MUST submit a copy of your license or certification with your application package or you will be rated ineligible. The following licenses and certifications:
  • The Ammunition Certifications IAW AMC-R 350-4: Ammo 45: Introduction to Ammunition
  • The Ammunition Certifications IAW AMC-R 350-4: Ammo 62: Technical Transportation of Hazardous Materials
  • The Military-Owned Demountable Container (MILVAN) Inspection Certification
  • PHYSICAL EFFORT: The inspector performs duties that involve frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending and lifting items weighing up to approximately 70 pounds and occasionally lifting items in excess of 70 pounds to perform inspection of material and storage areas.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is usually performed inside and outdoors which are concerned with the receipt, storage, issue, demilitarization, disposal, and shipment of ammunition items which results in exposure to adverse weather and to potentially dangerous situations. May be required to wear protective clothing.
