Agile Surgical Assistants, LLC is seeking a skilled and experienced Per Diem Surgical Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate must be certified as a Surgical Assistant, have 3-5 years of experience in a surgical setting, possess a valid BLS certification, and be able to assist surgeons during procedures such as cauterizing tissue and vessels, holding retractors, and suturing as needed.
```Duties```
- Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by providing necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Prepare operating rooms for surgery, including sterilizing equipment and ensuring aseptic technique is followed
- Set up surgical instruments and equipment according to the surgeon's preferences
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures and provide assistance as required
- Maintain accurate documentation of surgical procedures, including instrument counts and patient information
- Monitor patients' vital signs during surgery and report any abnormalities to the surgical team
- Assist with wound closure by applying sutures or staples under the direction of the surgeon
- Provide post-operative care to patients, including dressing changes and monitoring for signs of infection
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care
```Experience```
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Surgical Assistant in a hospital or acute care setting
- Proficient in Plastics, Orthopedics, General and GYN surgical procedures and techniques
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must have current certification with one of these organizations; NSAA, NBNSTSA or ABSA
_ Must have valid and current BLS
