Roden Oral and Facial Surgery in Birmingham, Alabama is searching for an experienced Surgical Assistant to provide the best care to our patients in a friendly, comfortable environment. We treat all cases through state-of-the-art operating equipment, and CBCT scans that produce 3D dental X-rays images used for implants, jaw surgeries and teeth extractions. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assisting the surgeon during a variety of surgical procedures
- Prepares treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols
- Taking dental x-rays of excellent, diagnostic quality
- Reviewing patient Health History to ensure it is recorded accurately and completely
- Serving as an infection control officer, developing infection control protocol, and preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment
- Helping patients feel comfortable before, during and after surgical treatment
- Providing patients with post-operative instructions for oral care following surgery or other oral treatment procedures, such as the placement of dental implants or extraction of third molars
- Record doctor notes and vital sign information during a surgical procedure or office consultation
- Performing office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer
- Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience using computers for a variety of tasks
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Consistently professional appearance and attitude
- Must be detail oriented, punctual, and patient-care focused
- Motivated to grow and learn new things
- Ability to cross train and perform front office functions
