About the position:
This position is responsible for scheduling office and hospital surgeries with pre-op and post-op appointments, counselling of patients and obtaining insurance authorization for all surgeries.

Knowledge, skills, abilities required for the position:
- Must demonstrate computer literacy, be able to operate software programs utilized in the practice and utilize (at a minimum) the internet, excel, and word programs.
- Must possess some general medical knowledge including diseases and medications that are pertinent to patient care in ophthalmology.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
- Great attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure, communicate, present information, and to multi-task.
- Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and private insurance billing rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 Coding and usage of modifiers.
- Knowledge of HIPAA & OSHA regulations.
Physical/Mental requirements:
Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment.
Required experience:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Experience obtaining authorizations for surgeries.
- Experience in an ophthalmic practice preferred.
