Surface Designer (Ceramic Production Focus)

We are currently looking for a Surface Designer to join our team. The Surface Designer will work predominantly from our clients' production facilities in the Cookeville/Baxter area (80-90% of the time) to assist with the development and creation of graphics for Ceramic applications. The Surface designer may also spend time at various client facilities in and around Middle and East TN, and will need to report to our offices in Nashville from time to time (10-20% of the time). Prospective candidates must be comfortable getting their hands dirty in a 90-100% on-site production/factory setting. The Surface Designer will oversee the design process from start to finish -- creating or adapting a digital design using Adobe Suite, printing the design on tile, firing the tile, evaluating results, making adjustments, etc.

Surface Designer (Ceramics) Job Responsibilities:

• Create or adapt designs for ceramic surfaces using Adobe suite.
• Visit client facilities to understand client needs.
• Interface with Ceramic printers to print designs on ceramic tile.
• Oversee firing of Ceramic tile.
• Continuously evaluate results of printed and fired designs to make adjustments.
• Travel to Exhibitions and Fairs to research latest Industry Trends.

Surface Designer (Ceramics) Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design or Industrial Design preferred but not required.
• Ability to travel Internationally for training.
• Comfortable getting hands dirty and working at client facilities 90% of the time.
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.
• Open-mindedness and willingness to collaborate with international colleagues.
• Knowledge of Ceramics a plus (not required).
• Knowledgeable about latest design trends.
• Initiative to learn and achieve ambitious targets.
• Extroverted and Disciplined personality.
• Ability to solve problems under pressure.
• Excellent Written and Verbal communication.
• Focus on innovation and creativity when addressing client needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
