Job location: Alexandria, LA – for the right candidate, we could potentially offer remote work. Relocation is also offered as well.

Compensation: $90,000 to $120,000

Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, parental leave, 401(k) match up to 4% + annual discretionary 401k employer contribution, company paid short & long-term disability, 2-3 weeks PTO + personal/sick time + 11 total holidays.

Education / Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Industrial or Mechanical), Logistics, or related field, from an accredited college or university.

Required Experience:

  • 5 or more years’ experience in manufacturing environment working with Supply Chain & logistics.
  • Regulated industry experience required (FRA (Federal Railroad Administration) and AAR (American Association of Railroads) experience preferred, not required.
  • Previous experience in a national heavy industrial manufacturing business.
  • Experience with factory support and improving sustaining operations.

Preferred:

  • Experience leading continuous improvement, Lean Six Sigma certification preferred, not required.
  • CPSM, ISM or other certifications preferred.
  • Experience building relationships and developing international suppliers with an emphasis on raw material, components, and services.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position is accountable for developing new suppliers to assist in meeting material cost savings goals. They will identify and work with potential suppliers and third-party engineering firms to design and test products. The Supply Chain Engineer is responsible for formulating component manufacturing specifications and performing design analysis to ensure all products meet industry standards and guidelines. The Supply Chain Engineer should provide data analysis by collecting, inspecting, cleaning, sorting, and processing data into relevant information to aid decision making, and interpret market research to determine profitable product ideas, therefore data analysis skills are integral to the role. To ensure success, the Supply Chain Engineer should exhibit extensive knowledge of business operations and experience in heavy industrial manufacturing.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND/OR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Look for cost effective ways to develop new suppliers and products by evaluating costs and seeking more economical alternatives and develop solutions to production issues to optimize the process and ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Document all activity during the development stage of components; perform tests for performance analysis and document results. Lead product changes and improvements as needed.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships and keep abreast of developments in Supply Chain Engineering.
  • Collaborate with finance, procurement, and manufacturing teams to determine the best potential vendors and distributors.
  • Maintain strong project management skills to manage a project from start to finish within certain constraints. It includes budgeting, scheduling, setting goals, creating timelines, and accountability. The product development cycle involves various phases that are the responsibility of the Supply chain Engineer.
  • Establish quality control measure with the QA team to ensure compliance with industry standards and maintain compliance with these measure with all design team members. Where necessary, create guidelines to guarantee the protection and safety of colleagues

SKILLS/SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent communication skills which include presentations, technical writing, and listening skills.
  • Ability to investigate, derive conclusions from observations/data and analytically approach corrective actions.
  • Confidence, patience, tact, and diplomacy, when dealing with difficult situations and various personalities.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize work and manage time effectively.
  • Always convey a high level of professionalism.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Micro Station and Solid Edge software is a plus.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Industrial or Mechanical), Logistics, or related field, from an accredited college or university.
  • 5 or more years’ experience in manufacturing Supply Chain & logistics.
