Job Summary:
The Supply Chain Coordinator is responsible to manage assigned Suppliers to secure the proper supply of production material to support the production plan, on time, at the highest quality and lowest cost. This is managed through the proper supplier set up and the knowledge of the Supply Chain to define requirements such as safety days, safety stock, managing alerts, resolving issues and escalating in a timely manner to prevent any disruption to the flow. The SCC role directs communication to assigned suppliers for proper management of the assigned supplier.
Principal Responsibilities:
  • Manage the supplier set up for all assigned suppliers. This includes knowledge and confirmation of safety stock, safety days, packaging, parameters to secure production material flow for Batch, JIT & JIS material from supplier to the assembly/component plants.
  • Maintain and monitor the system parameters (from the Plants' material systems) to optimize the material flow (eg. safety stock, unit loads, reaction time or frozen period, FTL or LTL ...).
  • Active participation in cross-functional workgroups together with central Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L).
  • Coaching and development of existing and newly released suppliers to improve the overall Delivery Performance.
  • Utilize existing tools such as Volvo Supplier Improvement (VSIM), A-reports, telephone conferences, F2F meetings and escalating activities. The tools being used are intended to standardize the approach in developing and improving suppliers who do not perform in accordance with Volvo Car Corporation requirements.
  • Continuous improvement of systems and processes within the Supply Chain by creating or reviewing existing standard work.
  • Monitor the 2-way information flow with the responsible supplier: ensure releases are sent correctly and ASN's reported accurately and timely.
  • Ensure the capacity and flexibility of the supplier is closely followed and reported.
  • Secure smooth change management transition from old to new level material with running change orders focusing on minimizing obsolete stock and ensure uninterrupted flow. Follow the RCP process for material confirmation.
  • The Supply Chain Coordinator (SCC) maintains and optimizes ideal inventory levels.
  • Proactive participation in supplier changes or modifications: SCC continuously remains in close contact with the MP&L teams, along with, project team, Central MP&L and Purchasing.
  • The Supply Chain Coordinator has full knowledge of the planning process and constraints originating from Manufacturing.
  • Follow up on personal KPIs and department KPIs by performing the tasks as described above in order to reach the organizational targets.
  • Working according the Volvo Cars principles.
  • Requesting ad-hoc inventory cycle counts as required.
  • Leading recovery efforts for material expedites as required.
  • Window for supplier material flow error and corrective/recovery actions.

Job Specifications:
Knowledge/Requirements:
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills that showcase communication, cooperation and strategic thinking
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain/Logistics Management, Business Administration, Information. Technology or Industrial Engineering. Relevant education or equal qualifications.
  • Previous fast paced, high volume automotive experience with Supply Chain planning.
  • Driven, self-managed and results-oriented.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in operational Supply Chain planning function.
  • Experience with both international and domestic supplier communications.
  • Strong customer-focus and service mind-set with the ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Strong internal/external networking capabilities.
  • In-depth understanding of automotive material planning systems and processes in a JIT and JIS environment.
  • Solid understanding of Tier1 supplier operations and risks.
