JOB SUMMARY:
Manage the Supply Chain inventory of parts and components for assigned product categories. Effectively collaborate with all aspects of Parts Operations and Product Support to understand territory demand and client specific needs. Assist in the management of all necessary system's inventory parameters to exceed required metrics and Caterpillar Dealer Excellence expectations. Develop procurement strategies to ensure prompt delivery of parts and components from suppliers. Design, analyze, and distribute data and reports that support Empire's Supply Chain initiatives. Provide technical research and assistance as requested from other Parts Operations personnel or Product Support organizations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Client-driven focus and collaboration to support Empire's inventory strategy and to ensure the right part is in the right-place at the right-time.
  2. Act as the decision maker for assigned product categories across entire Empire territory and branch store locations, including making stocking decisions to optimize Client fill rate while taking warehouse space optimization into consideration.
  3. Perform all required research and analysis of forecasts, demand trends, historical sales data, and any other data points in support of data driven decision making of territory wide stocking levels.
  4. Determine, communicate, and assist in execution of inventory stocking indicators and management of related parameters.
  5. Define and manage disposition of surplus/obsolete inventory, to include identification of items to return or write out.
  6. Identify and communicate part constraints and Supply Chain risks to Parts and Product Support organization. Assist in creating risk mitigation strategies for identified constraints.
  7. Establish alternative sourcing options to provide best-in-class parts availability and reduction in overall Empire expense.
  8. Implement effective supplier management initiatives to ensure continuous improvement and levels of performance.
  9. Establish standards and processes to ensure system master data and supplier parts records are consistent, clear, and communicated. Assist other Parts Operations to maintain data over time.
  10. Work safely at all times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Communicate with suppliers to coordinate product requests, pricing updates, issue resolution, etc.
  2. Meet with cross-functional teams to share supply outlook and fulfillment plans.
  3. Build and maintain reports to measure category performance.
  4. Support sourcing efforts for new product introductions (NPI).
  5. Assist in parts return processes.
  6. Actively participate in department and/or client meetings.
  7. Provide feedback internally to drive change sufficient to meet market demands and provide viable client solutions.
  8. Work within current systems to ensure all records are maintained for accuracy and thoroughness.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
  10. Work within and promote corporate values.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  1. Previous knowledge of Supply Chain, ordering, procurement, and warehousing of parts for various equipment and medium/heavy duty trucks, engines and related components is preferred.
  2. Demonstrated ability to synthesize data into recommendations for operational performance improvement.
  3. Ability to communicate and build relationships, initiate action, and affect change.
  4. Must be able to technically assist and understand client needs and provide problem resolution.
  5. Must be able and willing to accept, communicate and enforce company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  6. Must be able to utilize computer-based parts and order management systems.
  7. Must have planning and organization skills sufficient to accurately track various requests and provide instructions to numerous people simultaneously.
  8. Must be a motivated self-starter.
  9. Must have sufficient knowledge to understand client opportunities and to express these opportunities to the appropriate area within Empire.
  10. Must have sufficient knowledge to effectively utilize Internet, e-mail, spreadsheets, word processing programs and database management.
  11. Proficient in the use of inventory management software, concepts, and processes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  1. High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  2. Bachelor's Degree in Business/Supply Chain or related field preferred, and/or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  3. Previous experience in inventory management or warehousing preferred.
  4. Previous experience analyzing and improving Supply Chain data and processes preferred.
  5. Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
