What You Will Do
The DP Division is the premier Production Agency (PA) assigned to produce War Reserve (WR) detonators for our nation's nuclear stockpile security mission. The Division is part of LANL's Weapons Production Directorate. DP is comprised of a team of motivated, highly skilled technical and operational support staff working in an integrated format. The organization is centered on high-rigor manufacturing operations to produce precise, safe, and reliable WR products. DP partners closely with customers and stakeholders (such as the National Nuclear Security Administration [NNSA]), design agencies (LANL, Sandia National Lab [SNL], and Lawrence Livermore National Lab [LLNL]), and LANL program management organizations to deliver on challenging national security objectives. DP upholds vigorous teamwork, personal integrity, respect in the workplace, and continuous improvement in operations, technical excellence, safety, and security
Detonator Operations is an operational support group focused on the development and execution of support systems and services for the Detonator Production Agency (PA). The Group manages the War-Reserved (WR) material Supply Chain and Procurement, classified parts/High explosives, packaging and transportation (P&T), warehouse management, production planning, document control, records management, and facility interface.
The successful candidate will be the First Line Manager who manages the Supply Chain and Procurement team and will report directly to the Logistics and Supply Chain Management Group Leader (DP-4). The successful candidate will provide leadership and management for a group of talented professionals focused on Supply Chain Management and WR material procurement, and material coordination with other DOE complexes. The candidate will need to work with several other technical organizations within the Associate Laboratory Directorate of Weapons Production (ALDWP), including facility operations, program, and engineering to achieve its goals and deliverables.

What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Leadership: Record of strong leadership and employee development in a manufacturing environment. Specifically, a strong record of meeting customer deliverables through organizational accountability and a history of promoting employee engagement and teamwork to hit deliverables.
Planning: Demonstrated experience with production planning, scheduling, and methods to establish shop floor control.
Supply Chain Management: Advanced experience with WR material Supply Chain management to support manufacturing operations. Understanding WR material quality requirements. Establishing procurement strategies to meet near and long-term needs. Establish methods for maintaining reoccurring material procurement and timely delivery to ensure continuous manufacturing operations.
Continuous Improvement: Advanced experience and formal training related to improving organizational processes and creating a culture of continuous improvement.
Customer Service: Exceptional customer service skills and experience providing clear, concise support and guidance to others in a dynamic and sometimes-stressful environment. Experience interacting professionally with all types of personnel, including external interfaces and executive management.
Organizational Skills: Possess high attention to detail, including excellent organizational skills, analytical thinking, observational skills, and problem-solving skills all to include high accuracy. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and adjust to the workings of a dynamic and cohesive fast-paced team environment.
Communications: Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written skills. Examples of this might be: facilitated events such as briefings, presentations, and/or final reports. Ability to communicate successfully and deploy guidance on corporate objectives, policy, and/or procedure.
Education/Experience: Position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 5 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience within the Department of Energy (DOE): Demonstrated experience interacting with DOE/NNSA.
  • Knowledge and experience applying complex, integrated and overlapping requirements for WR quality material procurement.
  • Knowledge of and experience P841-1 quality programs.
  • Knowledge of and experience LANL iProcurement system.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the Associate Lab Director for Weapons Production (ALDWP) programs including technical and operational disciplines.

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
