Job description

We are looking for a motivated and relationship-oriented individual who excels in a fast-paced environment to join our Supplier Partner Team.
The Supplier Relationship Manager will be responsible for the interface with key suppliers of tactical equipment and services, which Darley distributes to its defense markets.
Primary responsibilities include establishing and developing supplier accounts. This individual will be expected to assist suppliers in structuring and implementing successful dealer programs. The Supplier Relationship Manager will also be expected to have a clear understanding of each account's specific offerings and determine how they best fit into Darley's sales and marketing strategies.
The focus of this position is relationship management. This position does not have purchasing responsibilities.

Darley Defense, a division of the W.S. Darley company, specializes in using existing contracts to distribute products and services to the Federal Government. Darley Defense specializes in special operational equipment and fire and emergency services.
Major Responsibilities:

  1. Establish new Supplier Relationships.
    1. Identify and source new suppliers through market research, networking, and cold calling.
    2. Vet prospective suppliers through risk analysis and mitigation. Conduct site visits where necessary.
    3. Explain how Darley operates and establish partnership expectations
    4. Negotiate dealer agreements, pricing, and terms
    5. Determine suppliers' positions both in the customer landscape and at Darley
  2. Foster relationships with existing suppliers.
    1. Execute Teaming Agreements
    2. Conduct site visits at key suppliers
    3. Interface with suppliers at industry trade shows and conventions
    4. Coordinate supplier involvement in Darley trade show booth displays and marketing collateral
    5. Track & understand outcomes of ride-alongs with key suppliers
    6. Create supplier and category business plans
    7. Maximize margin potential
    8. Understand and manage supplier's performance relating to contract compliance, quality, delivery, and other factors that determine Darley's success as a government contractor
  3. Advise Darley Sales Team on product, pricing, and deal strategies to help them generate business and meet their goals.
  4. Effectively communicate the details of Darley Supplier Relationships.
  5. Maintain current supplier profiles and records including, but not limited to, dealer agreements, pricing, and product offering.
  6. Coordinate sales training, joint sales calls, and lead sharing with Darley sales team and suppliers.
  7. Participate in cross functional team initiatives (Marketing, Inside Sales, Outside Sales, Operations).
    1. Assist with the production of marketing brochures and other collateral
    2. Provide input for supplier promotions on social media
    3. Attend routine sales meetings hosted by the vertical sales leads and provide relevant input
    4. Occasionally attend customer calls with sales reps
    5. Assist contracts team with sourcing points of contact and pricing for supplier bids
    6. Test and embrace new IT systems
  8. Generate and analyze monthly data reports that illustrate suppliers' positions within the Defense and Darley landscape; provide frequent communication of data and analysis to other team members.
  9. Specialize in assigned product categories and assist in the creation of incremental business for those partner suppliers.
  10. Work with Darley Marketing to identify and fulfill marketing needs of suppliers including co-op, web, and print.
  11. Represent the company well by demonstrating core values and communicating key benefits of working with Darley.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses company standard office equipment such as computer and cell phones.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or as otherwise required.
Travel
This position requires up to 40% travel.
Requirements
Education
  1. Bachelor's degree in a business discipline or equivalent experience.

Experience
  1. 3-5 years supplier management experience.
  2. A minimum of 5 years military experience.
  3. Government contracting experience.
  4. A minimum of two years in a professional business role.
