The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is an independent office whose mission is to promote excellence, integrity, and accountability throughout the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). In our dynamic environment, the OIG conducts investigations, audits, evaluations, and inspections to enhance program effectiveness and efficiency and to detect and prevent waste, fraud, and mismanagement in DHS programs and operations.Qualifications: GS-14: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience at this level includes:
- Analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of various programs, operations and functions of an organization;
- Developing and designing audit or evaluation plans;
- Addressing unexpected complex developments that require modifications in work plans;
- Determining sufficiency of work papers and related evidence developed by staff members.

Current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade band in the federal service. The time-in-grade requirement must be met by the closing date May 1, 2023 off this announcement.

A. Degree: Auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
- A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or
- Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.
Special Instructions For Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.Employment Type: FULL_TIME
