Job Title: Supervisor, Shipping
Location: Richmond, VA
What we're looking for:
We are looking for a Supervisor, Shipping who will be responsible for overseeing all inbound shipment and outbound shipments, material movement and storage/control of materials. Properly manage staff to meet all of the following requirements through standard processes, process control, strict adherence to division and corporate policies.
What you'll be responsible for in this role:
- Help establish continuous improvement processes that result in the most effective use of all resources, reducing costs, and improving quality
- Create, train, and implement standard work and SOPs to improve processes such as kitting and cycle counting efficiencies, waste reduction and material control
- Implement safety and security procedures to ensure a safe working environment and ensure the entire warehouse is clean, neat, and safe
- Regularly manage warehouse needs in terms of space, material flow, and labor required
- Communicate the status of all departmental metrics (MDI)
- Exercise management and coordination functions with various company functions (purchasing, finance, operations, etc.)
- Conceive, present, and implement projects that reduce time and cost
- Manage, train, hire, and develop a team of employees
- Root cause analysis and problem resolution for all logistics operations
- Ensure outbound orders are shipped timely and crated properly to meet customer's expedited delivery date
What are the basic qualifications?
- High school diploma / GED required
- 3+ years' experience in production leadership
- 3+ years' experience in manufacturing, warehousing, distribution
What are the preferred qualifications?
- B.S. degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or other relevant degree preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement experience
