As a Quality Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate with Quality leadership to create department vision and strategic direction which aligns to the plant and corporate vision and strategy for all Quality functions of the Columbia brewery.
  • Cascades, monitors and measures strategically aligned objectives to the Columbia Quality team.
  • Perform internal and external benchmarking, analysis, target setting, and publishing of key performance indicators (KPI).
  • Ensures Quality, Food Safety, GMP, and GLP, requirements are implemented and verified for effectiveness all areas of the brewery. Participate, train, and drive Food Safety and HACCP initiatives.
  • Represents Brewery Quality for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identifies and implements manufacturing process improvement opportunities. Supporting Root Cause Analysis as related to Quality Issues.
  • Supports training on validations for in-line and bench-top quality measurement instrumentation accuracy and reproducibility. (Instrument qualifications)
  • In conjunction with department stakeholders, establishes instrument calibration frequencies and enforces compliance for all in-line and bench-top quality instruments.
  • Ensures QA support is available when and where required to support customer service goals.
  • Ensures maintenance, calibration, and validation of laboratory instruments.
  •  Participate in development and Quality support of autonomous working teams capable of managing the brewing, batching, packaging, and warehouse operations running on a 24/7 schedule.
  • Proactively manages and reports on Quality compliance for plant and employees.
  • Proactively monitors and reports on product Quality and regulatory compliance using Chemistry, Microbiology, Sensory, and other data.
  • Proactively manages non-conforming product holds and develops quality criteria for product rework.
  •  Builds a cross functional team to support daily requirements of the operation and provide training/oversight for team-based problem solving.
  • Mentors plant personnel on Quality and Safety.
  • Provides direct and indirect reports with performance feedback and career coaching.
  • Perform other various job duties as required

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology or related field.
  • HACCP and/or PCQI Certifications preferred.
  • TTB certified chemist preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in high speed, multi-sku beverage manufacturing and packaging facility.
  • Knowledge of brewing and blending processes.
  • Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and Food Safety as it relates to the manufacturing process.
  • Applied knowledge/experience operating and maintaining laboratory instrumentation such as: GC, GCMS, HPLC, Alcolyzer, Auto-titrator, ICP, etc.
  • Ability to establish a working knowledge of TTB requirements for alcoholic beverages and FDA food law requirements for non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Willingness and ability to develop, motivate, and empower employees while fostering an environment that promotes trust, teamwork, and collaboration.
  • Experience developing training plans that support initial onboarding success and long-term personnel development.
  • Highly organized team player that will hold accountability to structure and routine.
  • Has a drive for supporting, coaching, and developing people. Ability to support others first to build confidence, autonomy, and bench strength.

The QUALITY SUPERVISOR position is well-suited for you if you have/are:

  • Ability to manage and implement quality requirements including finished product, raw material specifications, and sensory evaluation.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at one time, delivering on time.
  • Thorough understanding of cleaning and sanitation requirements.
  • Ability to make quick decisions with limited information that are in the best interest of team, the company, and our customers.
  • Accountability to gather and utilize ancillary information to drive decisions.
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills. Ability to adjust approach and tactic to better collaborate and support a positive path forward.
  • Proficient in the identification, management and resolution of risk relating to raw materials, ingredients, processes and products, and willingness to proactively take necessary precautions to minimize risk.
  • Aptitude to be an effective business systems thinker and a good understanding of business process knowledge.
  • Aptitude to become and effective leader with strategic influencing skills.
  • Results oriented individual with a desire to manage change through to fruition.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across functions, business units and geographies.
  • Proficient with personal computers and business applications.
  • Preferred experience using statistical process controls knowledge and routine use of statistical analysis software.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand/move/sit 8-12 hours per day.
  • Ability to ascend/descend/navigate stairs throughout shift.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including (but not limited to) bump cap, safety steel toe shoes, safety glasses, dust masks or PAPRs.
  • Must adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
