Supervisor, Operational Load Forecasting supervises daily operations.
JOB DUTIES
- Responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and performance management of staff.
- Frequently interacts with direct reports and functional peer groups. Interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others.
- Provides direct supervision to professional individual contributors and/or skilled, support individual contributors. Acts as an advisor to department and may become actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems. A small portion of time is normally spent performing individual tasks related to the department. Typically has full responsibility for direct reports.
- May provide input to budgeting and financial decisions that impact the department. Requests approval for financial actions beyond a limited scope per policy.
ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES
- Leads a team that designs, develops, and implements ERCOT's Operational Load forecasts and provides meteorological support to various internal and external stakeholders
- Responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and performance management of staff
- Directs load research sample design, data collection, and analysis required for Load Forecasting
- Supervises meteorological guidance and forecast selection for Operational Load, wind, and solar forecasts
- Oversees the management of all data and associated computing systems used in the forecasting process
- Develops and implements policies and procedures related to Load Forecasting systems
- Measures Load Forecasting performance
- Develops and leads initiatives to improve Load Forecasting by accounting for technology and market changes
- Monitors operational systems functional requirements, deployment strategies, testing requirements, and strategic directions
- Facilitates systems development, product implementation, certification and testing criteria and general workflow procedures with other departments and ERCOT vendors by effectively managing projects and contracts
- Negotiates both contract and commercial terms associated with weather vendors, load research services, and Load Forecasting systems vendors
- Manages team schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage of Load Forecasting and meteorological support requirements
- Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Requires minimum 5 years job related work experience in Load Forecasting
- 1 year in a leadership role preferred in excess of degree requirements. Minimum years of job related experience can include time in leadership roles.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Experience using iTron for Load Forecasting.
- Experience with EMS or WebFG
- Basic knowledge of programming (examples: VBA, Python, VBScript)
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree : Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or Meteorology or related (Required)
- Master's Degree : Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (Preferred)
- or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required
CERTIFICATION
- PE Professional Engineer (Preferred)
WORK LOCATION:
- This position is Hybrid. Employees will be required to be on-site in Taylor, TX at least 3 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management
- On-site schedules are flexible or may be rotated based on business needs as determined by the Manager
- Remote work is required to be performed from your Texas residence.
- Employees may opt to work on-site more than required or 100% of the time

$131,064 - $222,775
