Salary Range: $58.5600 - $90.0100 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Supervisor EPIC (Tapestry / Professional Billing) promotes the understanding, integration, and application of information technology in the healthcare setting. The Supervisor is the liaison between clinical care and information technology, leading staff members throughout the care continuum in the implementation, use and optimization of clinical technologies. The EPIC Supervisor is responsible to work with the analyst team and project managers to coordinate the technical aspects of implementations, including hardware, processes and decisions, and the project plan. The Supervisor participates in project scope and direction discussions. In addition, the Supervisor EPIC is also responsible for managing ongoing support activities to maintain Hoag's Epic instance.
The analyst team can include but is not limited to, clinical and non-clinical business or application analysts. Through the team, the Supervisor leads and plans the analysis, design, implementation, evaluation, optimization and maintenance of clinical technology and projects within their assigned area and in partnership with other Supervisors and Managers at the Organizational level. The position requires team leadership skills delivered in a complex, highly complex environment, and skilled use of clinical technology, information sciences and fundamentals of project management with a customer service focus.
This supervisory role leverages various IT and Operational Teams to establish standard methodologies, processes, and services (e.g. workflow design) related to the design/development, of designated end-user clinical applications and facilitates technical support when indicated. Actively works with Clinical and IT leaders to drive high quality patient care using technology, while balancing ease of use and adoption of assigned clinical applications.
Ensures that technical requirements and tasks are understood, clearly communicated, and executed on time
• Updates technical and interface project plans, technical trackers, and other work plans
• Participates in core project leadership discussions and decisions
• Acts as a liaison between the technical team and the application team
• Ensures that technical staffing levels are maintained, and training and certification requirements are met
• Coordinates production and non-production hardware and software support for the Epic infrastructure including servers, network, storage, backup, operating systems, virtualization platforms, and desktop devices
• Tracks Epic technical integration issues and coordinating issue resolution
• Ensures that the systems team(s) provide routine system monitoring and that issues are mitigated
Leads infrastructure capacity planning and monitoring activities
• Working with application and technical teams and project and organization leadership to develop, document, and test downtime and recovery processes
• Manages IT Service Management tickets, to include incidents and requests, and monitors the queue to ensure service level agreements are maintained.
Education/Coaching
• In collaboration Supervisor, develops competency assessments of clinician use of information systems.
• Effectively supports technology training.
• Coaches, mentors, and provides support for individual team members that report to this leader and to members of the organizational clinical team in gaining and maintaining competency in use of clinical information and communication systems.
• Leads the delivery of workflow and training knowledge consistent with and accurately reflecting standards of clinical technology use.
• Develops communication regarding clinical technology changes, upgrades, and downtimes to clinical customers.
Education and Experience
Minimum five (7) years' experience with the Epic or electronic health record application or equivalent system. Expert knowledge of the assigned application in at least one functional area. Ability to manage and mentor teams.
Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience in a related field. Three (3) or more years' experience managing the application, module or equivalent system as assigned.
Three (3) or more years' experience working in a Health Care Application Services department, preferably within an acute care environment.
Proficient with Microsoft office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project Minimum 2-year experience managing medium to large projects.
Experience in a supervisor role is preferred.
