The Opportunity
Come join IGN as a Supervising Technical Producer. This person will be highly motivated, playing a critical role in day-to-day productions and live streams, maintaining studio systems and workflows, and the execution of major in-studio and offsite tentpole events. This position reports to the Senior Director of Video Production and will be based in our West Los Angeles studio with a minimum 3 days per week in office as well as travel for global events as needed.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead Tech Producer for branded, social and core pilots, remote and live events like San Diego Comic-Con working with leads in creating timelines, tech set up, tech rehearsals, etc.
• Help scope and plan for shoots and devise the technical and logistical aspects of the studio team's day to day working.
• Work with external set, lighting, and production partners to negotiate and secure needs.
• Work with Sr. Director of Video Production to research and implement new equipment, systems, programs or projects; and monitor and report progress.
• Work with the Studio team to QC, troubleshoot studio, control room, and field equipment tech issues; document and communicate resolution.
• Identify bottlenecks, and propose improvements in workflows and/or infrastructure used for productions, post-production, and video acquisition (e.g. gameplay capture).
• Fill in control room operator roles as needed, such as Technical Directing.
• Supervise, motivate, and evaluate technical production staff; delegate work; provide technical and professional skills training, and manage performance issues.
Job Qualifications
• 5+ years of technical production experience
• Strong knowledge of video production workflow including producing, shooting, and post-production for digital platforms.
• Detailed technical understanding of professional cameras such as Sony FX6/FX3, Blackmagic URSA, etc..
• Expert knowledge of Vmix, Tricaster, Blackmagic ATEM, and/or other video switching systems.
• Experience with audio engineering setups and equipment including professional audio mixers, lavs, boom mics.
• Experience with configuring and operating professional/enterprise level appliance video encoders & decoders such as those from AWS Elemental Live, Epiphan, Magewell, Kiloview, etc.
• Experience using cloud based encoding and distribution services such as AWS Elemental MediaConnect, MediaLive, ReStream,io, Castr.io, etc.
• Strong understanding of streaming technologies including RTMP, SRT, WebRTC, Zixi, etc.
• Knowledge of current and emerging web-video technologies including H.264, WebRTC, AV1, HEVC, NDI, etc.
• Passion for IGN and/or video games, comics, movies, TV, etc.
It would be extra awesome if you have...
• Been a part of the setup and execution of esports events.
• Experience with NDI and Dante networking.
• Created custom controls and automation using Bitfocus Companion.
• Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop experience.

Salary Disclosure: Ziff Davis provides a range for the base pay. Factors that may be used to determine your actual pay may include your specific job related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The base pay for this position ranges from $110,000 to $125,000, plus incentive compensation (for eligible roles only), 401K with company match, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, short and long-term disability, and a flexible time off policy.
