Job Description Purpose of Position: Disseminate hot-sheets, memos and other documentation that advises uniformed personnel of current protocols, unusual occurrences and emergencies as directed by Hospital Police Administration at Roll Call. Patrol areas assigned to conduct supervisory rounds during the tour and sign each officer's memo book as required.
Respond to calls for service, including missing patients and crimes that may require supervisory decision. Assist patients, visitors, staff and guests while staying current on all conditions that may require hospital police intervention. Performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or designee.
Minimum Qualifications For Appointment to Assignment Level I: 1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a states Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in the field of law enforcement, protection or security; or 2. An Individualized Education Program (IEP) diploma and eighteen months of full-time satisfactory experience as described in 1 above.
3. Current New York State Peace Officer certification. For Appointment to Assignment Level II: In addition to meeting the requirements for Assignment Level I, appointment to Assignment Level II requires: 1.
Four years of satisfactory experience as a Special Officer, at least two years of which must have been as a Supervising Special Officer, Level I; or 2. Four years of full-time satisfactory experience in the field of law enforcement, protection or security, at least two years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity. Special Note: 1.
A valid New York State motor vehicle driver license may be required for appointment to certain positions based on the operational needs of the network/facility.
