Join Aspira's Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) as an instructor and play a vital role in shaping the workforce of tomorrow. This year-round initiative offers a unique opportunity for individuals aged 16-25 to support the development of young people and gain valuable experience in education, workforce development, and community engagement. As an SYEP Instructor, you'll lead workshops, mentor youth participants, facilitate job readiness training, and connect them with meaningful internship and employment opportunities. Whether you aspire to become a teacher, social worker, or community organizer or pursue another career path in the helping profession, this role will provide you with the platform to make a lasting impact while advancing your own career journey.

Essential Job Functions

  • Workforce Development Leadership: Design and lead workforce development workshops for youth participants, covering topics such as job readiness, resume building, and interview skills.
  • Mentorship and Guidance: Provide individualized mentorship and guidance to youth participants, helping them set goals and develop personal and professional growth strategies.
  • Job Placement Assistance: Assist youth participants in securing internships and employment opportunities with local businesses and organizations, leveraging your networks and expertise to match their skills and interests with suitable worksites.
  • On-the-Job Training: Coordinate on-the-job training experiences for youth participants at worksites, ensuring they gain practical skills, workplace etiquette, and professional competencies.
  • Career Exploration: Organize and facilitate career exploration workshops and informational sessions to expose youth participants to various industries, career paths, and educational opportunities.
  • Community Engagement: Foster partnerships with local businesses, community organizations, and educational institutions to expand youth participants' access to employment opportunities and resources.

Qualifications

  • Minimum associate degree or currently enrolled in college in the field of education, social work, psychology, sociology, or any related field.
  • Demonstrated passion for working with youth and contributing to their personal and professional development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse groups of learners.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and establish positive stakeholder relationships.

Duration: One to Two-year part-time position, 30 hours per week.

Compensation: $20 per hour
