We are looking for a well-rounded, self-motivated student technician to help with IT operations in Division 3. The student will work with IT staff to provide day to day support. The student will work as a helpdesk technician and an inventory analyst within the Division. This individual will be responsible for supporting end users. The student should be experienced in either Windows 10/11 and Windows Server 2019 and/or Linux Redhat 7/8. Knowledge of PC hardware is expected.
In addition to daily IT operations, the student will assist with asset management. The student will assist with a Division wide hardware inventory and updates to the new CMMC asset management database. As part of this Asset management project, it is expected that a comprehensive document set regarding the user operations of the CMDB asset management database be completed.
The position requires 5 days in the office with a 40-hour work week for the duration of the student’s school break.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical assistance and support for incoming issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware
- Install, test, and configure new workstations, peripheral equipment, and software
- Use imaging software to image desktops
- Monitor and respond quickly to tickets received through the helpdesk
- Respond to requests in person, over the phone, or via email
- Document internal procedures
- Provide triage support for the help desk
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network related issues
- Participate in asset management inventory working with a Division IT system administrator
- Update CMDB database with inventory results
- Create User documentation for CMDB database usage
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10
- Working knowledge of Linux (preferably Redhat/CentOS) is a plus
- Proven record of being a self-starter with the ability to work in small teams with a desire to learn new technologies
- Great written and verbal skills
- The ability to obtain and maintain a government (DoD) security clearance is required.
