POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, properly loads and delivers prepared meals to SUMMER LUNCH sites in the designated area; performs related work as required.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Determines the most efficient delivery route to sites requesting meal delivery.
• Packs prepared food in appropriate hot and cold containers; loads containers into a motor vehicle, verifying correct numbers of meals for assigned routes.
• Delivers meal to each scheduled recipient.
• Collects donations for meals if offered; returns all donations to scheduler after deliveries are completed.
• Notes visible changes in site operations; communicates this information to staff for follow-up.
• Unpacks and cleans food delivery containers after completing scheduled deliveries.
• May assist with packing meals, cleaning, serving or other routine duties at the SUMMER LUNCH sites.
• Actively participates with the Summer Lunch Program outreach throughout the county.
• Communicates effectively and respectfully with people from different racial, ethnic and cultural groups and different backgrounds and lifestyles; demonstrates a knowledge of and sensitivity to their needs.

The Summer Lunch Meals Driver position is represented by the SEIU bargaining unit.

OTHER JOB DETAILS:

• This is FLSA non-exempt position.
• Hours will typically be Monday-Friday, with occasional evening and weekend hours required.
• This position is eligible for a $0.40 per hour bilingual differential after passing a test administered by the Human Resources Department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Must have a valid California driver’s license, have access to drive a motor vehicle incidental to the performance of the work, and be insured.
• Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record as demonstrated by current K-4 DMVprintout.
• Must qualify to be insured with the agency vehicle insurance carrier.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must be willing to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
• Must pass a criminal background check and maintain a clean record.
