Summer Intern - Communications

Sourcebooks offers a 10- week PAID, IN-PERSON internship at our Naperville, IL offices in our Communications Department. Interns are given the opportunity to get hand-on, intensive exposure, experience, and tools to help you learn about a career in book publishing.
Communications Intern Qualifications:

• Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills:
  • Ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to tailor communications to different audiences within the company, as well as outside the company (as with a press release or LinkedIn post).
• Adaptability:
  • Must be comfortable switching gears or adjusting timelines based on shifting priorities.
  • Should be willing to embrace change while staying focused on the goal!

• Creativity:
  • Ability to craft communications that engage employees around mission, foster a sense of community, and communicate key messages in innovative ways.

• Collaboration:
  • You’ll be working across departments, so relationship building is key.
  • Ability to receive constructive feedback: a big part of internal communications is incorporating diverse perspectives into our work to ensure that messages resonate.

• Attention to Detail:
  • Grammar and spelling must be correct, and facts and figures must be verified before sharing with employees.
  • Ensuring consistency in branding and messaging: attention to detail also extends to the visual presentation of communication materials.

• Summer interns will work 20-24 hours per week over Tuesday- Thursday each week on-site in Naperville, Illinois.
• Interns are compensated $15/hour.

Eligible Candidates:

• Current college junior, senior or recent graduate enrolled in communications, marketing or business program
