POSITION SUMMARY:
The YMCA's Camp Lincoln in Kingston NH is now hiring for the 2024 camp season (June-Aug)!!!!
This is a great seasonal opportunity where you will enjoy the summer being outdoors, on a lake, doing fun activities and making money!
As a Program Lead you will provide overall leadership and management in a specific program area. You will be responsible for implementing safe, engaging activities that are age appropriate and supervise counselors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Customer service.
Responsible for the entire operation of their program area, eg. Boating, Sports field, ropes course, archery, arts and crafts, nature, swim lessons.
Responsible for providing feedback to counselors as it relates to their program and skill classes.
Plans and executes an innovative, engaging and age appropriate Camp Program.
Assists in an effective and fair skill class sign-up process for campers.
Maintains a safe and clean program space - trash is picked up, equipment is checked routinely and organized, the program space is set up prior to activities beginning.
Assists in special events each session, at the direction of the Summer Program Coordinators.
Assists with ensuring program quality and proper execution across all program areas.
Assists with the ordering of supplies for their program area.
Ensures that program areas and equipment are maintained to a high standard. Communicates needs in a timely manner to the Assistant Camp Director.
Ability to remain calm during an emergency.
Assist in Family Nights to ensure a positive experience for our camper families.
Builds positive relationships with campers, parents, caregivers, counselors and other Program Leads to leverage Camp Lincoln's position and provide a high level experience to all.
Provides effective and timely communication to the Summer Program Coordinators.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 3 years leadership and childcare experience.
A passion for leadership development and coaching.
Experience managing a similar sized aquatic facility.
Teaching, facilitating, teambuilding experience preferred.
Supervisory and staff development experience preferred.
Prior experience working with children preferred.
Familiarity with various outdoor activities.
Strong working knowledge of computers and all common programs such as Word and Excel.
Administrative experience.
Ability to effectively delegate responsibilities to others and support them in their endeavors as necessary.
Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information.
Energetic and positive personality.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to stay calm in stressful situations.
Ability to respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in emergency situations.
Must be able to complete YMCA required training as scheduled by management.
Must maintain updated certifications of the job (CPR and First Aid/AED).
Must successfully clear FBI and state criminal background checks.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time
Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Ability to push, pull, bend and kneel regularly.
Ability to communicate verbally (in-person and on phone) and in writing is essential.
Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
Ability to view and enter data on computer for long periods of time.
