The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a full-time seasonal Summer Camp Counselor for the Atlanta Kroc Center, located in Atlanta, GA.
Job Summary
Leads children activities at a day camp including classroom training, tutoring, sports activities, bible study, computer programs and specialized programs; prepares and serves children lunch and snacks; assists in leading field trips; maintains the cleanliness of the camp area.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles and practices of Child Behavior and Development; Knowledge of the principles and practices of First Aid and C.P.R and ability to ensure the safety of children; Ability to teach children Christian values as well as general childhood education curriculum; Ability to plan, develop, and implement effective childhood programs and activities; Ability to observe children and ensure their safety; Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or G.E.D.; Two (2) years' experience teaching child development programs in a church, Any equivalent combination
Licenses and Certifications
Valid state driver's license. C.P.R. and First Aid Certification
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Duties are performed a Camp and Classroom setting. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting ad carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
