Aviator Sports and Events Center Summer Day Camp is currently searching for Seasonal Summer Camp Counselors and Bus Counselor for Coney Island/Sheepshead Bay, Ditmas, Park Slope and Bay Ridge, for our “2024” Seasonal Summer Day Camp program located at Gateway National Park in Brooklyn, New York.
Camp/Bus Counselors: Oversee campers and assist with structured activities throughout the day as per the schedule such as art, music, group discussions, sports and recreational games. Minimum of 6 – 9 month’s experience working with youth in recreational/sports activities and graduating 12th grade or in college. Bus counselors will be picked-up in the morning and dropped-off near in the late afternoons.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Assume responsibility of safety regulations
- Follow Aviator Sports and Camp objectives, rules, policies and guidelines
- Serve as a positive role model to all campers
- Must be punctual and organized
- Know where campers are at all time
- Assist other counselors during activities
- Assist Campers in both physical and emotional needs
- Communicate with Division Leader when necessary
- Genuinely care; engage and participate with campers
- Problem solving through situations and seek assistance when necessary
- Facilitate and/or co-facilitate structured and unstructured activities
- Attend all camps staff meetings
- Help to maintain and secure all equipment and supplies of the program
- Maintain a clean and safe environment
- Maintain an atmosphere of mutual caring, respect, and understanding
- Handle discipline problems when they occur, and practice positive behavior management

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum qualification requires candidate to be graduating 12th grade
- Ability to work as a team member with other counselors and adult staff members
- Responsible, friendly, enthusiastic, actively engaged and patient
- Possess a desire to work directly with children/campers
- Safety is priority
- Prior experience in a youth related program is desired
Physical requirements: Able to conduct recreational activities with youth equipment operation. To be able to participate in physical activities such as swimming, field sports, and physical team building activities. Relations with others: Able to work with children ages 4-15 years old and able to work well with other Counselors.
To be considered a successful candidate, you must have related experience in recreation, sports, youth programs and Summer Camps.

Hourly rate for counselors will be $16 per hour and $600 gross weekly.
