Summer@Country School offers a safe, self-contained environment perfect for campers to freely explore and enjoy their favorite activities with friends old and new. We offer a range of traditional and new activities that make each summer unique, including art, STEM and athletics, 85 acres of outdoor and woodland adventure, and weekly specials. Through hands-on experiences and a combination of guided and independent experiences, campers are encouraged to try new things, explore, accept challenges, and most of all have fun.
We are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated Assistant Counselors who love camp and love kids. Each camper group will have a lead and Assistant Counselor. Assistant Counselors' responsibilities include leading, participating, and supporting daily activities with their campers, and working closely with the lead counselor to ensure camper safety. Assistant counselors play an important role in building an enriching summer experience for our campers.
This program runs 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday through Friday from June 17-August 16, 2024. The projected number of hours per week is 40. A three-week minimum commitment is required, full summer commitment preferred. The compensation for this level position is $15.70-$18.50 per hour based on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the organization and supervision of children within activities and throughout the program in order to meet the intended outcomes.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of program activities for children within the mission and outcomes.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for children and staff.
  • Be a role model to children and staff in your attitude and behavior.
  • Represent the program when interacting with parents or community members.

Requirements
Essential Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Has experience, excitement, joy, and passion for working with early childhood children
  • Has strong verbal and written communication skills with all constituencies (children, colleagues, families)
  • Cooperative, supportive, flexible, organized
  • Able to create positive classroom community and build relationships with children
  • Has a strong work ethic and problem-solving mindset
  • Collaborates with colleagues, specifically the Lead Counselor, to design and implement a challenging, relevant and connected summer curriculum
  • Understands the role of social, emotional and physical well-being in the teaching and learning process and encourages the development of lifelong healthy behavior patterns
  • Experience in and commitment to the ongoing development and maintenance of an inclusive campus community
  • Experience with conflict resolution and classroom management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A positive personality and an adaptable, flexible approach
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to ten pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and in various temperatures
