Description
The Associated Recreation Council (ARC), in partnership with Seattle Parks & Recreation, is hiring a Summer Activity Camp Kitchen ScienceCamp Instructorto deliver camps Community Center. The Kitchen Science Instructor will be responsible for programming and delivering fun lesson plans that get kids interested in the science of cooking and curious about how to conduct experiments with items they might find in their own kitchens. Camps are offered to kids aged 6-8 and 9-12. The instructor must have the ability to engage with a diverse group of children and manage a classroom of students. A passion for cooking, kitchen safety, messy science and kids are a must!
Pay Range: $19.00- $23.00 hourly DOE/non-exempt; seasonal summer position only
Activity Camp Location:

• Garfield Community Center

Camp Schedule:

• Monday - Friday; 1:30pm - 5pm

Work Weeks:

• 7/17-7/21
• 7/24-7/28
• 8/7-8/11
• 8/14-8/18

Programming Requirements:

• Develop and deliver developmentally appropriate Activity Camp lesson plans/activities in the subject areas of cooking, food safety and science to kids ages 6-12 with support from the Activity Camp Supervisor
• Use critical thinking to problem-solve and manage conflict
• Generate supply lists for each camp; there will be some class supply funds available
• Maintain camp appropriate professional appearance
• Daily set-up, take down and cleaning of space

Additional Preferred Requirements

• Preference given to instructors available for all or most of the summer, however, if you can only work for some of the summer weeks, you are still encouraged to apply
• Please submit any needed time off requests in advance

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Food Handlers Certificate is required prior to start of camp
• 2 years prior experience with Children
• Prior youth programming experience required
• Must have demonstrated working experience working with families, community members and partners to foster positive relationships
• During programming, comply with all program guidelines related to COVID-19 potentially including ensuring cleanliness of the work site
• Reports to Associated Recreation Council Activity Camp Supervisor
• If hired, you will have approximately 3 hours of Human Resources new hire onboarding/training.
• If hired, must successfully complete/pass a background check.
• If hired, must provide proof of eligibility to work in the US and valid government issued ID, Proof of Vaccination and sign up for direct deposit with either checking or savings account
