Koch Investment Management is seeking a Summer 2024 Research Analyst Intern who is excited about discovering their passions and potential while gaining real experience within our companies that creates value for our customers.

This internship and potential full-time employment location is in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Our Team

Koch Investment Management (KIM) manages Koch Industries' excess capital in both liquid and private markets. We invest in all asset classes via futures, swaps, options, other derivatives, cash instruments, hedge funds, and the full spectrum of private markets. KIM seeks to optimize the risk-adjusted return of the whole portfolio, and we take a portfolio approach to managing risk

What You Will Do

  • Ensure that all systems supporting the research and trading process are up-to-date and accurate, including market data, position data, and risk reports.
  • Expand and increase robustness of current position and risk management system via building new custom functionality (R/Python/SQL)
  • Cross-train as backup and support for the daily management and maintenance of both the front and back end of our position and risk management system.
  • Work with portfolio managers to build and integrate pricing models into our portfolio and risk management systems.
  • Improve all sub-optimal processes. When you see something that could be improved, improve it.
  • Assist with Global Tactical Asset Allocation research, including new signal development, optimal position sizing, and building and maintaining daily models and reports.
  • Assist in evaluating external funds and strategies for inclusion into the portfolio.
  • Provide support to Compliance for government reporting.
  • Assuming responsibility for 100% compliance with the laws, regulations, company policy, and industry standards applicable to this role.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Eligible for full-time employment no later than August 2024
  • Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
  • Proficiency in programming R, Python, C/C++, or Java to build systems.
  • Proficiency in SQL and database design (i.e., ability to write database queries and knowledge of database design principles.).
  • Proficiency with version management systems like Git, SVN
