Peraton is seeking a Summer 2024 Cyberspace Software Engineer Intern performing unclassified work in support of a classified program based out of the Herndon, VA location but may be supported up to 100% remotely.
Interns typically represent college students trying to gain related work experience while pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree. Under direct supervision, performs various tasks and assignments for the organization's professional staff in such disciplines as Cyberspace Operations and Cyber Engineering. The candidate will be involved in all aspects of product development including ideation, design, implementation, deployment, and issue resolution, this will usually imply cross-team collaboration with Product, Engineering, Security and Operations.The candidate is expected to provide technical contributions and work collaboratively with other team members, the team follows Agile Development methodology relying on daily Scrums with tickets prioritized in Jira.
We ask that each intern be available to work the duration of the ten weeks (June to August) and commit to working a minimum of 40 hours per week. This program is geared toward technical college students, actively enrolled at a four-year accredited university, who will be rising into their senior year. However, strong juniors and/or underclassmen may be considered if they have declared their major and have completed qualified coursework.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- HS Diploma and some advanced level training.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Have completed progress toward a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
- Foundational experience in an object-oriented programming language and exposure to Software Engineering processes.
- Hands on programming experience through coursework and/or prior internships.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to quickly adapt and learn new technologies and concepts.
- Self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team-player.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Desired Qualifications:
- 3.0 and above GPA.
- Exposure to Agile software development processes.
- Familiarity with web development frameworks and/or database technologies.
- Exposure to cloud computing environments.
