Suicide Project Director

The Mission of the Louisiana Mental Health Association is to provide services, education, and advocacy for persons who need mental and behavioral health support.PROJECT DIRECTOR Description of Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the management of the Louisiana Suicide Prevention Project under the direction and supervision of the Management of Louisiana Mental Health Association (LAMHA), the Louisiana Affiliate of Mental Health of America
• Abide by all policies and procedures of LAMHA while promoting the vision, mission and values of the organization
• Assist with project evaluation, data collection and coordination of reporting to the Office of Behavioral Health.
• In coordination with the Executive Director and the Development Director of LAMHA carry out the project's financial plan as presented in the funded proposal, or make changes to the plan following a prescribed set of policies and procedures.
• Maintain an accurate record of project-related activities and expenses and reports project progress to the Office of Behavioral Health as outlined in the terms of the award.
• Complies with all applicable contract rules, regulations and/or terms and conditions of the award.
• Present in grant-related training, meetings, and functions and provide oversight and supervision
• Supervise, train and counsel peer case management staff and volunteers to the program - working with individuals at risk for suicide
• Ability to make social service referrals to appropriate agencies that support client goals
• Available to manage emergency situations with the trained Peer Support Specialist case managers
• Train referral sources and their staff on referring to the Fisher Project including who is appropriate and how to refer
• Enforce program policy and protocols
• Assigns cases and creates work schedules for caseworkers ensuring that all hours of the program are covered
• Oversee all aspects of the program including subcontractors
• Assist with billing as needed and required
• Serve as the primary backup for the Program Manager of the Drop-in Center.
• Handles the physical demands of the job, including standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, bending, and lifting at least 25 pounds. (For example, a box of copy paper weighs approximately 25 lbs.)

Qualifications for Position:

• Licensed Mental Health Professional in a field related to human services field with project management experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in management, supervision, planning and/or program development.
• At least three (3) years supervisory experience.
• Preferred experience with the management of peer support specialist
• Knowledge and experience with behavioral health services and domestic violence persons at risk for suicide, including assessment treatment and consultation
• Reports to the Executive Director of the Louisiana Mental Health Association
• Skills and Knowledge Required:

• Knowledge of evidence-based behavioral health treatment options and treatment systems.
• Excellent organizational, project management, written and oral communication skills, and leadership skills with diverse groups.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
• Personal Qualities:
• Ability to maintain favorable public relations and provide community leadership
• Amount of Travel/Other Special Conditions or Requirements:
• Ability to travel across the state when needed.
